Course Objective:
Students will learn the fundamental "Computer Literacy” concepts of the Microsoft (MS) Office 2016, the MS Office 365 Package and basic Keyboarding Skills. Focusing on MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point.
Task 1. Logging In
Students will log in to their station and access the browser Google Chrome.
Task 2. Teacher's Web Page

Task 3. Setting up your PC for Class
Creating Bookmarks for use in Comp Apps Class
Students will set up bookmarks to use in class as part of their daily class routine.
Students will also pin a Google Chrome shortcut to the task bar at their computer station for quick access.
Task 4. Student Portal (Infinite Campus)
Students will review accessing the Portal (IC) on a desktop machine.
- Students will make this page a bookmark.
- Students will review how to access Infinite Campus on a desktop computer and on their personal devices.
Task 5.. Student Email (District Account)
Students will review how to access School Email.
- Students will make this page a bookmark.
- Students will learn their password also contains additional characters.
- Students will review how to access School Email on a desktop computer and their personal devices.
- Students will review/discuss the importance of checking school email on a daily basis during a school week.
- Access and One Drive via School Email Log On.
- Students will learn how to create a signature line in their email account.
- Digital Etiquette Do's and Do Not's appear at the bottom of the Email Page.

- Students will be introduced to the keyboarding potion of this course.
- Students will use the app Typing.com, a web based application, to practice their keyboard skills to increase speed and accuracy.
- Students will try the Games Section of the site.
- Students will be graded on their accuracy score for the first half of the semester (Q3).
Task 7. Attendance & Policy *Review*
Students will become familiar with the classroom Attendance & other policies for the course.

Absences
- All students should make up missed work if they are absent.
- Start a BUY BACK of you did not have an excused absence.
- It is your responsibility to speak with/contact your teacher (email) about any missed work.
- If you are late you will be marked tardy in Infinite Campus.
- You must be in the ROOM when the bell rings. Preferably, your seat.
Task 8. Computer Lab Expectations:
Students will become familiar with the expectations of the Computer Lab.
Task 9. Fire Drill Protocol
Students will become familiar with the exit procedures in case of a fire drill or evacuation.
- Phones are AWAY until you are OUT OF THE BUILDING! **No Exceptions**
- Check in with teacher outside.
- 5 minutes to return to class, or you are considered wandering & will receive a write up.
Task 10. Exit Procedures
Exit Procedures:
1. When you hear the 5 minute warning alarm - do not pack up. (Teacher's Cell Phone Alarm)
2. The alarm is for the teacher, not the students.
3. Wait by your seat. Do not wait by the doors.

10. Grading & Rubrics
- Students will review the Grading process for Computer Applications.
- Teacher posts assignments on Infinite Campus and it is YOUR responsibility to check IC and Email.
- If a student sees an assignment marked missing and they believe it was submitted/finished. Students should communicate this concern with their teacher as soon as possible.
