- ATTENDANCE It may seem obvious but you cannot do your job if you are late or if you are not there. Remember, to make up missing work and be on time.
- APPEARANCE Take pride in your appearance and always be neat, clean and appropriately dressed. Follow the school’s dress code.
- ATTITUDE Keep a positive attitude in class and school, maintain this positivity with your classmates, teachers and building staff.
- COMMUNICATION Keep communication open with your teacher and classmates as well as you administrators & Guidance. Share your thoughts and feelings with your colleagues, and do so with kindness.
- AVOID PETTY-MINDEDNESS If there is a problem; deal directly with the person involved. Ignore minor grumbles, don't overreact, and always be forgiving. There are teachers, mentors and staff available to help you navigate your issues so the concern can be resolved. Use those resources.
- FLEXIBILITY Mistakes, problems, and scheduling crises are routine part of the school day. Try to be strong and flexible to adapt when problems occur. Seek guidance of a teacher, friend or classmate to help your through. Go with the flow and don’t make waves.
- FOLLOW-THROUGH Follow-through on assignments, reports, and other responsibilities. Do not wait to be reminded. Be accountable for your own action and make up work when absent, keep track of your own performance and attendance using the Student Portal. Use school email to communicate with teachers.
- CONFIDENCE Do not share private information and avoid gossip. Never discuss children, teachers or school matters with outsiders. Gossip is poisonous, malicious, and destructive. If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.
- ETHIC Model a high code of ethics. Be the type of person others look up to and respect.
- CARRY MORE THAN YOUR SHARE "It's not my job!" will not work in our classroom or school. We must do more than what is expected of us, including cleaning the room/cafeteria, and whatever else needs to be done. We are a team – remember BOXER PRIDE!
- WILLINGNESS Be willing to try new things and to make changes that will improve your experience at Brockton High and in your classes or on teams and in clubs.
- TEAMWORK Be a part of the professional team in your school by working closely with and supporting other students, (whether you know them or not), your teachers, school staff and the administrators.
- ORGANIZATION Keep your desk and back packs organized and clean, follow-through with your assignments, homework and projects. Use an appointment calendar, set up a filing system, and maintain a record of all due dates and events throughout your school-year to keep you on task.
- GROWTH Get involved with school clubs, activities and social events. Volunteer, perform community service, read articles of interest and of current events, stay informed. Build that resume to help your college application for when the time comes!
- FAIRNESS Treat all people (classmates, staff, teachers, administrators) fairly and do not have biases or prejudices. Look for the best in each person you meet. Focus on their strengths, and accept their differences. Do not judge!
- HONESTY Honesty is always the best policy. Lying merely chips away at a person's credibility, so it's best to always remain open and sincere and remain truthful at all times, even if there are consequences.
- HUMOR Always, always, try to maintain a healthy sense of humor, laugh, smile, and above all enjoy your experience in high school! This is where lasting memories are made.
